The second week of September promises to be nothing short of a treat in Stellenbosch with these exciting events. The week’s events will once again kick off at The Meeting Place on Wednesday evening with their Bedroom Superstars open mic night, which provides a platform for budding musicians to perform in front of a live audience. Karel Bester, a talented local musician, will be playing host for the evening.
On Thursday, Die Bergies and Van Reg en Rede will perform at Bohemia at their weekly band night. As Thursday is also Stellies’ official quiz evening, both Aandklas and Courtyard Café will host their respective weekly quiz nights, starting at 19:00.
This Friday evening, the Drostdy Theatre will host ‘Dis Zamar Lekker,’ a group of five skilled musicians. During their show, you’ll feel as if you’ve travelled the globe, experiencing music from a wide variety of cultures.
Start your Saturday off right with Francois Haasbroek at The Purple Windmill — one of a string of fantastic events happening that day in Stellenbosch. At Aandklas, Basson Laubscher and the Violent Free Peace will be performing alongside Vanilla and Henru. Celebrating 10 years of Psych Night — a Cape Town collective started by five friends with a love of music, art and community — The Daisy Jones will feature a wide variety of great musicians on Saturday night, including BLK JKS, Elle E, Holograph, and Lucas Swart & the Daylight.
To unwind on Sunday, Stellenbosch residents can go to the Dorp Street Sunday Market and listen to the best of Vinyl DJ Paulie. Ethan Florus, performing at the Balboa Balcony Bar, is the perfect way to end your weekend with some amazing vocals.
